With music rooted in free improvisation, Valami swing plays their own virtuosic gypsy jazz compositions in an individual style, evoking a café atmosphere, nights of swing dancing and the golden age of jazz.
The members of Valami swing were brought together by a shared love for manouche jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and the gypsy jazz genre that he started. This is the earliest European form of jazz, which in a virtuoso manner combines swing, hot jazz and classic jazz tunes together with traditional gypsy music, chanson and Balkan melodies.
Band members: András Makk – jazz guitar, Dávid Kádár – manouche guitar, István Babindák - clarinet, Sándor Gyüdi – upright bass.
Joining the band for this evening will be 21-year-old Bori Orbán. With an entire career still ahead of her, the singer is a graduate of the Vác music conservatory and is primarily known for her chanson concerts, although in 2006 she also took first place in the Dal-via-dal international song competition, along with a special prize in the folk song category. She is currently continuing her jazz vocal studies under the guidance of Georgina Kanizsa and Gábor Winand.
